In 2D, an aggregation of hexagons with accompanying indexing and algebra. In this way it is similiar to the PYXIS innovation, though base 7 instead of 3, and is only a hexagonal tesselation at one resolution.

Generalized into n-space, GBT uses Knuth's ideal balance ternary to index multidimensions of the permutahedron.

GBT is a data structure used in hexagonal image processing and other applications within the US Military.
