PyxNet™ includes a license server that maintains data control, authority, copyright, updates, transactions, user statistics and messaging between author and user.

At the core of PYXIS is a powerful pipe and filter technology - the PYXIS Information Processing Engine™ (PIPE). PIPE links every step in data use and transformation as registered customizable operations in a string of processes.

Underlying all PYXIS technology is our Digital Earth Reference Model (DERM). The term DERM was coined by Tim Foresman in context with a vision for an all encompassing geospatial platform as an abstract for information flow in support of Al Gore’s vision for a Digital Earth. Here the emphasis is on the requirements for a "Digital Earth" reference model, as opposed to an "Earth reference model" that is Digital.
